Moray EEL - Overview and Background
The Moray Eel is a cosmopolitan ( found in both tropical and temperat seas ) creature. The Eel is a very elusive species of Marine animal, there are thought to be around 200 species of Eel. The Eels can be anywhere from 10cm to 4.5m long, the Snyder's moray is most likely the smallest kind of Moray while the Slender Giant Moray can reach up to 4m and weigh anywhere from 25kg - 30kg. Despite the many different species of Eel, they all have a single fin that extends from there head to the tip of there tail. The Eels have a Ferocious reputation most likely due to there ancient counterparts, Roman legends tell of Nero throwing slaves into watery pits filled with moray eels so bored aristocrats could gain pleasure from seeing people eaten alive. However, Moray Eels will not attack humans unless it is the absolute last resort.
